Colorado Department of Education

Learning how to revitalize IT infrastructure.

The Company

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) is responsible for Colorado’s 178 school districts and 1,836 schools, as well as nearly 900,000 public school students.

Business Challenges

Aging infrastructure, limited infrastructure management, suboptimal design and poor performance

The Challenge

It didn’t take a genius to see the issues: hardware failures, an aging IT infrastructure and networking equipment approaching the end of life. With a poorly designed and performing network, and infrastructure expanding wildly, the Colorado Department of Education looked for reliable managed IT services and support.

The Solution

The OneNeck® IT Solutions team worked with the IT pros at the Colorado Department of Education to determine what systems to replace and repurpose, increasing bandwidth and stabilizing the network. The infrastructure modification covered everything from the campus core to data center core, and now conforms to best practices.

The Results

In 18 months, OneNeck completed the refresh project, establishing a transparent network management system, including the wireless network and data center security services (installing Identity Service Engine from Cisco).
