Virtual Private Services

A Virtual Machine (VM), the fundamental building block of virtualization, represents the hardware resources of an entire computer.  A VM is an isolated software partition that can run its own operating systems and applications as if it were a physical computer. A virtual machine behaves exactly like a physical computer but is composed entirely of software.  For example, each VM contains its own software-based CPU, RAM, hard disk and network interface card.

iniluxWith our Virtual Machine Management service, OneNeck eliminates the dated “one server, one application” model.  We deploy Virtual Private Servers (VPS), which are the same as VMs but dedicated for use exclusively by an individual customer.  The VPS has the privacy of a separate physical computer and can be configured to run as a server computer with server software.

By leveraging industry leading virtualization software, OneNeck partitions one physical server into multiple servers so each has the appearance and capabilities of running on a dedicated platform. Each virtual server runs its own operating system. With administrator-level access, you can install almost any software that runs on the OS, as well as perform system maintenance. For example, each virtual private server can be independently rebooted.

You don't need to buy costly individual servers. Instead, you'll access our infrastructure for capacity on demand. And, you don't have to worry about ramping up your IT operations to deploy new applications or respond to changing market conditions. OneNeck's virtual machine management solutions create an efficient, dynamic IT environment for your company.

We provide the hardware, virtualization software, LAN and SAN infrastructure. You choose the number of virtual processors, the amount of allocated RAM and allocated disk space and we bundle it all with an attractive System Availability Service Level Agreement of 99.99%.

As an add-on to your existing services, OneNeck offers two levels of VPS: High Availability (HA) which can restart a VPS in a matter of minutes, and High Fault Tolerance (HFT) which provides zero downtime in the event of a hardware failure. The table below summarizes the features of OneNeck's virtual machine management solutions compared with traditional dedicated hardware deployments.

Feature Comparison

OneNeck VPS Solutions*

Dedicated Hardware

Costs

No Capital Expenditure. System can be tailored to fit application and performance needs.

Dedicated server hardware requires capital expenditure. Current hardware offerings typically require customers to over-buy hardware and waste resources.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure is built in, no need to pay for LAN, SAN, rack, or power.

Requires separate LAN, SAN, rack and power infrastructure.

Deployment

Reduces both time and effort required to deploy. With the OneNeck VPS platform, new servers can be brought up in a matter of minutes in many cases.

Extended deployments due to hardware vendor lead times. Requires resource time to "rack and stack" new server hardware.

Recovery Time Objective (RTO)

High availability (HA) VPS. Provides cost effective, automated restart within minutes for all applications in the event of hardware or operating system failures.

High Fault Tolerance (HFT) VPS. Provides continuous Availability, without any data loss or downtime, to any application.

Typical dedicated hardware failure takes 4 or more hours for vendor repair.

High Availability on dedicated hardware requires an investment in secondary hardware equipment.

High Fault-Tolerance on dedicated hardware also requires expensive, complex server clustering technologies that may not support your applications.

Recovery Point Objective (RPO)

Uses virtualization technologies that may offer more flexible DR options than dedicated hardware.

Dependant on traditional DR methodology.

*VPS is not appropriate for every application environment. Applications requiring real-time CPU access or intensive disk IO may be better suited on a dedicated platform. A OneNeck Implementation Architect will design a solution to fit your needs.

Customer Spotlight

Inilex

Inilex provides intelligent telemetry solutions that allow customers to remotely monitor, control and track their important assets via cell phones or the Internet. With rapid growth expected to exceed 200% over a three year period, Inilex faced a tough balancing act: developing new products for its 10,000+ application users while keeping the internal IT operations running round-the-clock.

Inilex partnered with OneNeck to provide customized managed services and an innovative virtualization solution. VPS allowed Inilex to have an independent solution at a lower cost. Rather than deploying physical, dedicated servers, Inilex accesses OneNeck's infrastructure for capacity on demand. Plus, OneNeck continuously monitors Inilex operations.

OneNeck's team of industry experts developed a customized solution for Inilex that includes:

  • Industry-leading virtualization technology
  • Switching and SAN infrastructures
